The Carbon Coalition and the League of Conservation Voters have chosen to celebrate the changing of the seasons by organizing a state-wide climate visibility event. Join us prior to work on the morning of December 21, to hold a sign for climate action and enjoy good company, coffee, and hot-chocolate.
Each of the four demonstrations--in Nashua, Manchester, Concord and Portsmouth--will run from 7:30-9:00 am
If you are interested in joining us in Nashua, we will meet at Bagel Alley, 1 Eldridge St. across from City Hall at 7:15 am to grab some cocoa, and then will head up Main St. to hold some signs where Concord and Amherst St. meet. Let us know if you are interested, and invite anyone else who may want to be involved!

Nashua, New Hampshire – Author of Freedom from Oil: How the Next President Can End the U.S. Oil Addiction and Brookings Institution Energy and Environment Scholar David Sandalow will speak at the Nashua Public Library this Wednesday from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.
With gasoline over $3 per gallon, Sandalow says “The 20th century was the Age of Oil, but this is a new era.”
“Will we be able to end our addiction to oil?” asks Roger Stephenson of the New Hampshire Carbon CO2alition which is co-sponsoring Sandalow’s visit to the Granite State. The Carbon Coalition consists of citizens, chambers of commerce, environmental groups, businesses and others calling for a responsible energy policy. The Coalition helped bring the NH Climate Change Resolution to town meetings last spring, when 164 towns voted to endorse the resolution, calling on the next president to require nationwide reductions of greenhouse gases. “Coalition volunteers are saying that presidential candidates often include oil dependence in their stump speeches, and offer a variety of solutions”, explained Stephenson. “David Sandalow offers a window through which people can see the common sense solutions that can work, provided the political will is there.”
David Sandalow’s presentation, “Ending Oil Dependence”, will be followed by questions from the audience. The event is free and open to the public. David will be driving a plug-in Prius with technology by A123Systems of Watertown, Massachusetts. The Prius will be available for inspection after the event.
David Sandalow, an Energy and Environment Scholar at the Brookings Institution, is an expert on energy policy and global warming. During the Clinton administration, Sandalow served as assistant secretary of state for oceans, environment and science and as a senior director on the staff of the National Security Council. Sandalow is the author of Freedom from Oil: How the Next President Can End the U.S. Oil Addiction.
